Amy Purcell Vorenberg
Before building a career as a school leader, Amy Purcell Vorenberg earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College. In the decades since, she has added to her credentials by undertaking professional development through the National Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools, among other organizations. Amy Purcell Vorenberg continues her educational pursuits today with studies at Harvard University. Attending Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, she expects to complete a certificate in advanced educational leadership in June of 2018.
Professionally, Amy Purcell Vorenberg served for more than 10 years as a head of school, first at an independent school in Philadelphia and later at an independent school in Washington, DC. Diversely experienced, she has also taught elementary-school students, performed as a media literacy consultant, held high-ranking positions with education organizations, and written an article published in Independent School magazine.
The educator’s published work also includes a chapter she coauthored for a 1999 book. Continuing to write today, she focuses on passing along to readers her knowledge as a school leader.
